- שִׂימָהf. (שׂוּם) 1) putting, placing, use of the root שׂוּם. Keth.46a אתיא ש׳ ש׳ we draw an analogy between sum (Ex. 22:24) and sum (Deut. 22:14); Y. ib. IV, 28c שׂוּמָה. Y.Shek.IV, 48a אפילו ש׳ מעכבת even where the Biblical text has the verb sum (‘thou shalt put), it is an act indispensable to legality. Yalk. Gen. 150 שִׂימַת עין, v. הֲשָׂמָה. 2) treasure, v. סִימָה.
